Dazed is a condition that usually occurs when a follower of Zin uses the Recite ability, reading either from the book of Apostates or Anathema.
Monsters affected by this have a 25% chance to spend their turns standing around dazed instead of taking a productive action like moving toward you or attacking. This usually only lasts for a short time, but may significantly reduce the victim's ability to fight.
Other sources:
- Degeneration card can briefly daze those that cannot be polymorphed;
- scroll of holy word can daze undead and demonic monsters.
