It has been centuries since outsiders were last allowed access to the cavernous libraries of the formicids, but their emissaries are still seen from time to time - surveying other lands for resources or scientific discoveries that might aid the colony.

This one's study of the magical fibres excreted by orb spiders has already led to an alchemical breakthrough, allowing them to shape fulminant prisms such that their explosions are directed at enemies alone. Alas, their enthusiasm to conduct a field test bodes poorly for your health.

Useful Info

Xak'krixis, Royal Expeditionary Alchemist is a unique formicid mage with a lethal set of rare spells. They also spawn with a venom-branded two-handed weapon and a kite shield, but wear merely a robe for armour. As with most formicids, they have stasis, and can dig walls while pursuing the player or running away.

Tips & Tricks

  • When they cast Fulminant Prism, they place two fulminant prisms at once, kept out of each other's blast radius but with both placed over their target's current position. This can do very high and undodgeable irresistable damage if you can't walk out of either of them, so readying Translocations or a scroll of blinking may save your life.
    • Their prisms also don't hurt their allies, so fighting them with other enemies around isn't any safer than fighting them 1v1.
  • If you lack any rPois and rF, their Ignite Poison casts can convert all of the prospective poison damage you'd take into immediate fire damage. Promptly potion of curing poison inflicted via them or nearby spiders can also mean the difference between life and death.
  • Due to their digging behaviour, they can reasonably quickly find you again after a teleport- when fleeing, prioritize leaving the floor entirely.
