Compresses an envelope of space around the caster and an adjacent enemy, then allows it to decompress abruptly, propelling both of them forward until the latter collides with something, inflicting damage proportional to the distance travelled.
Originally designed for use in construction, it will automatically target the nearest mass with the longest clear path towards a wall or other solid object (such as another monster). |
Maxwell's Portable Piledriver is a level 3 Translocations spell that grabs a visible enemy in melee range, and propels both it and the caster to impact the nearest creature or wall directly behind the enemy. It does damage via collision only, but that damage is increased based on how far the target has travelled.
Useful Info
Maxwell's Portable Piledriver cannot be cast while you are bound in place (Sigil of Binding, Momentum Strike) or prevented from teleporting (Dimension Anchor, stasis); Formicids cannot memorise this spell. However, it can be cast while held or constricted (and will break the user out of such effects), and can move the user even if their movement is restricted by mesmerisation or fear.
The maximum range an enemy can be moved is 4 tiles (i.e. impacting a creature/object up to 6 tiles away from where the player is standing). This spell can be used even if the point of impact is outside of LOS (fog, Kobolds, etc). If multiple monsters can be moved, the spell will target the monster(s) that will travel the farthest distance (choosing one at random from among them if there is a tie).
This spell cannot be used on enemies you cannot see, or that cannot be pushed (either because they are standing directly in front of a wall/monster, or because they are stationary monsters).
Maxwell's Portable Piledriver only works if both the caster and the target can pass through all terrain in the chosen direction. It cannot be used to drop enemies into deep water or lava, or move enemies out of water/lava if they cannot move on dry land.
Traps along the chosen path will not trigger unless either the caster or the target lands on them.
