Version 0.32: This article may not be up to date for the latest stable release of Crawl.
| It deals significantly more damage against the undead. |
Deathbane is a brand exclusive to Undeadhunter which does the following:
- Has a 2/3 chance to deal an average of about +150% damage (0 - 300%) to undead targets, or an average of +100% damage per swing.
- Unlike other brands, the damage isn't distributed linearly. Instead, the extra damage equals
3d(3 * dam + 1)/3 - 1, so it's weighted towards the average.[1]
Unlike the similar holy wrath brand, this brand can be used by the undead.
History
- Prior to 0.30, this brand was called Disruption.
- In 0.9, Disruption was made an exclusive brand to the Undeadhunter.
- Prior to 0.4, Disruption was a normal brand found on random melee weapons. Holy wrath was enhanced in its stead.

It roughly follows the normal distribution with slightly more variance. Due to integer truncation in C++, the mean is slightly lower than the expected average of 150%.
