Desirability
Despite first appearances, the shield of the Gong is actually incredibly dangerous to use. The noise it makes is much louder than shouting or even the Singing Sword; using it will attract everything nearby to your position. Combined with the fact that the spirit shield intrinsic renders this shield somewhat less useful for characters with crowd control spells, it is very difficult to imagine a character who would find this shield safe and usable beyond occasionally wearing it to face dangerous electricity damage sources.
History
In 0.13, the shield of the Gong will no longer provide a spirit shield.
