Useful Info
Spriggan riders are fast mounted opponents which ride hornets, shooting you with needles while at range or attacking with polearms from the back row, often while spriggan foot soldiers and wildlife charge in to attack you. They are impossible to escape on foot and hit hard, making them surprisingly deadly opponents. If you kill one, there's a chance that you'll only kill the rider or the mount, leaving a hornet or standard spriggan to face you alone. They can be found in the Swamp and in rare spriggan forests found throughout the dungeon and its branches.
Tips & Tricks
- Poison resistance renders their needles harmless.
- They need a clear line of fire to shoot you, which is hard for them to achieve when fighting in the densely wooded forests. Even so, it's best to lure them away from the trees by backing away behind a corner, just in case a spriggan druid casts Awaken Forest on you.
- If you manage to kill a spriggan rider's hornet while it is floating over deep water, it will drop the spriggan into the water and kill it instantly. This can happen fairly easily in the Swamp.
History
- Prior to 0.19, they rode wasps instead of hornets.
- Prior to 0.15, they rode giant fireflies instead of wasps.
- Spriggan riders were added in 0.7.
