Breath is a temporary condition which lets you know that your character is unable to use any of a variety of oral attacks. It essentially functions as a cool-down timer, preventing you from abusing certain powerful abilities. This includes the following:
- Draconian breath attacks gained through playing a level 7+ draconian or having appropriate mutations.
- The Spit Poison attack gained by playing a naga or having the appropriate mutation.
- Zin's Recite ability.
This condition occurs immediately after successfully using of any of these abilities or after getting struck with curare needles, and can be cured through either quaffing a potion of restore abilities or by waiting for several turns. A failed attempt to use one of these abilities does not cause the breath condition.
While monsters are also subject to breath timers after using these abilities, be aware that they recover much faster than player characters.
