“Sweet is the swamp with its secrets,
Until we meet a snake;
’T is then we sigh for houses,
And our departure take

At that enthralling gallop
That only childhood knows.
A snake is summer’s treason,
And guile is where it goes.”
-Emily Dickinson, “A Snake”. ca. 1865.

Useful Info

Swamp drakes are tiny dragons often found in the Swamp which confuse their victims with noxious gas before moving in for the kill. They are resistant to poison, but nothing else.

Tips & Tricks

  • Poison resistance renders their breath harmless, making them little more than flying pests.
  • If you get confused near deep water, use Ctrl + direction (or *, direction) to attack without any risk of drowning.
  • Clouds prevent other clouds from forming, so if you have no other resistances, use one of the Swamp's atmospheric floating clouds to keep from being confused.
  • Certain entrances to the Orcish Mines have a swamp drake in them. Swamp drakes are far more dangerous at that point in the game, especially if you haven't found poison resistance yet.
