This page is about the Flame brand. For the wand, see Wand of flame. For the card, see Flame card.

The flame brand causes a launcher to deal fire damage instead of physical damage. Accuracy is unaffected, but the base damage is increased by 40%. If the missile has the brand, the ammo's mulch rate will be doubled, but if you are firing unbranded ammo with a launcher of flame, the mulch rate is unchanged.

It can be found on bows, longbows, crossbows, slings, or on any of their respective missiles. If you are using a launcher of flame and firing ammo with any other brand, only the ammo's brand will activate (although frost will be canceled).

Strategy

This brand can greatly increase damage against monsters vulnerable to fire, but is a severe handicap when facing anything with fire resistance. Don't bother enchanting a launcher of flame, as it will be useless against many dangerous foes.
