Draconian breath attacks
Version 0.11: This article may not be up to date for the latest stable release of Crawl.
When draconians reach XL 7, they receive a colour and an associated draconian breath attack. Each colour receives its own unique attack, except for grey draconians (they stop breathing entirely and become immune to certain effects as a result). While these attacks are fairly powerful, they all come with a significant hunger cost and inflict the breath status effect, preventing you from using them repeatedly in combat.
- Red: A bolt of flame which leaves clouds of fire in its trail.
- White: A bolt of frost which ignores AC and knocks back flying creatures.
- Green: A bolt of noxious fumes, which leaves Mephitic Clouds in its trail.
- Yellow: A glob of acid which corrodes equipment and can cause bleeding.
- Black: Creates uncontrollable wild electricity explosions mixed with (also uncontrollable) lightning bolts.
- Pale: A line of steam clouds which deal minor damage, but also block LOS.
- Purple: A bolt of power which deals irresistible damage and remove buffs.
- Mottled: Breathes Sticky Flame on an adjacent monster which may splash onto other adjacent monsters.
- Undead (Lichform): Breathes a Bolt of Draining at a line of targets.
Monster Version
Monstrous dragons and draconians are capable of identical breath attacks which are also determined by their associated element, though there are some exceptions:
- Monstrous green draconians and swamp dragons breathe poison clouds instead of noxious ones.
- Monstrous black draconians and storm dragons breathe regular Lightning Bolts in place of the uncontrollable havoc player black draconians create.
- Monstrous mottled draconians and mottled dragons have ranged Sticky Flame breath.
- Player ghosts of draconians will always have the undead breath attack, regardless of the character's initial color.
- The unique draconian Tiamat can breathe whichever breath attack matches her current color.
(also depending on their colour).
