This spell attempts to send hostile summoned creatures to the place from whence they came, or at least shorten their stay in the caster's locality.

Abjuration is a smite-targeted Level 3 Summoning spell that shortens the life duration of a single summoned creature, dependent upon spell power. A sufficiently powerful cast versus a sufficiently diminished monster will unsummon it altogether.

An upgraded version of this spell, Mass Abjuration, is a Level 6 Summonings spell that affects all summons in your LOS.

Monsters never use this spell. Instead, they have a 50% chance of abjuring (only if you have any summons out, and acting like Mass Abjuration) instead of performing certain summons:

One side effect of this is that low-level summons can be used to decrease the danger posed by particularly dangerous summoners, as an ancient lich will gladly spend a turn abjuring your summoned quokka rather than summoning fiends. However, spending more than one turn summoning such chaff monsters is usually unwise.
