Version 0.30: This article may not be up to date for the latest stable release of Crawl.
It may return the magic spent to cast spells, but lowers their success rate. It always returns the magic spent on miscasts.

The Energy ego allows the wielder to passively channel MP when casting spells. It can only be found on orbs.

This ego refunds the full MP cost from 20% of successful spell casts. It will also refund MP costs from all miscasts. However, it will increase your raw spell failure chance by +10%. Note that this does not mean that your spell failure actually increases by +10%, as there is a stepdown applied. For reference, the first stack of wizardry reduces raw spell failure by 25%. For more details, see the Spell Success page.
