A ring that increases the intelligence of its wearer. |
A +6 ring of intelligence affects the intelligence of the wearer.
Desirability
Good for spellcasters. Having +6 intelligence has the following effects:
- Reduces spell failure by an amount equal to <1 level of each spell school>, when excluding Spellcasting itself.
- Increases spell power. Power is multiplied by
Int / 10
, where +6 intelligence adds to this factor. Note that this is before a stepdown.
For spell failure, a ring of wizardry is always better, but wizardry has no effect on power. Having more power means that spells are more effective, which is always useful.
They're nearly useless for characters who don't cast spells, except to prevent stat zero from intelligence drain.
History
- Prior to 0.27, you could find rings of intelligence with a -4 enchantment; such rings were always cursed.
- Prior to 0.25, enchantment values ranged from 2 to 6 (positive and negative).
