Useful Info

Humans are uncommon creatures in the dungeon and generally aren't very threatening. If you see one, it's either a shapeshifter, a sign of a nearby vault (e.g., "yak farm" or "sword in the stone"), or an outrider for one of a few uniques.

Also, several "other" monsters leave human corpses: Prince Ribbit, wizards, vault guards, vault sentinels, ironbrand convokers, ironheart preservers, vault wardens, hell knights, paladins, and Killer Klowns. Such monsters will be reanimated into human zombies, skeletons, or simulacra; such derived undead can be found occasionally in areas such as the Ossuary or the Crypt, as well as in a few specific vaults.

Tips & Tricks

Although generally very easy if you meet them, humans can be dangerous if spawned with crossbows, branded weapons, or large shields, and they pack a surprisingly strong punch if they meet a low-level character.

Variant Humans

A variety of demonic vaults will contain sacrificial humans. These are generally found locked away in cages and are neutral to you. Killing them will allow you to reach an altar of Yredelemnul.

From the look of things, she was supposed to be sacrificed in some demon-summoning ritual.

Deformed human.png You can find deformed, febrile, or sickly humans in some of the sealed chambers in Cigotuvi's Fleshworks.

This poor creature looks hideously deformed.

Human monk.png The ghosts of human monks will occasionally coalesce as you travel in Wucad Mu's Monastery. As these count as summons, they can be quickly disposed of with Abjuration, and they will stop spawning once you destroy the statue of Wucad Mu in the heart of the monastery.

It seems a flimsy representation of a monk; nothing more than a half-formed memory.
