Useful Info

Mottled dragons are one of the easier dragons you'll encounter. They have low HP, AC, and EV, making them easy prey for most attacks. However, they can breathe Sticky Flame at you, dealing significant fire damage over several turns and destroying multiple scrolls in the process.

Butchering it may produce a mottled dragon hide, which you can then enchant to create mottled dragon armour, one of the best light armours in the game.

Tips & Tricks

  • Its Sticky Flame breath has a maximum range of 5 tiles. If you're a fast character, you can kite them fairly easily. Otherwise, try to take them out before they get into range.
  • Fire resistance will reduce its damage, and conservation or stashes will protect your scrolls. Mottled dragon armour will conserve your items and make the flame not "stick".
  • Even if you have conservation, it's probably a good idea to drop any valuable scrolls you have when you see a mottled dragon. Nobody likes losing a scroll of acquirement to a lucky shot.
