Useful Info
Moths of wrath are flying pests which are fairly harmless on their own, but can be deadly when accompanied by other monsters. They can make any monster within four tiles of them go berserk, rendering easy packs of opponents suddenly deadly. Their bites can also induce berserk in you, which may or may not be a good thing. They can be found in the Realm of Zot and certain vaults, often sealed away behind iron grates near an altar to Trog.
Tips & Tricks
- When encountered along with draconians, Orb Guardians, or other beefy opponents in Zot, try to kill them as quickly as possible. Also, if you're a caster, remember that it can berserk you as well, leaving you unable to cast or act intelligently (use wands, quaff potions, etc.).
- Polymorphing them is a good idea, as they have surprisingly low hit dice for something so dangerous.
- If encountered in an early Trog vault, they can provide excellent experience. You'll need a way to cut through the walls around it (wand of digging or wand of disintegration), and as their bite attack is fairly strong, it's not a bad idea to go all-out trying to take them down quickly.
