Useful Info
Hellwings are pesky tier-4 demons with average melee combat skills and annoying magic. They are found in the Abyss, Pandemonium, and the Hells, and are often summoned by other monsters through the Summon Demon spell. They have a swoop attack.

Tips & Tricks
- An amulet of stasis will keep it from teleporting you away mid-fight. You may wish to switch amulets as soon as you see a hellwing, as putting it on mid-teleport will incur magic contamination.
- Try not to create any particularly beefy corpses while facing hostile hellwings. Alternatively, you could allow them to resurrect fallen enemies so you can get extra experience.
- Their teleports can occasionally be handy in places like the Abyss, but don't wait around them hoping they will teleport you. Also, if you're fighting hellwings and want to teleport, make sure you haven't already had the teleport status inflicted on you: if you have, attempting to teleport will instead cancel the active teleport, wasting the scroll/wand charge.
History
Prior to 0.6, hellwings were tier-3 demons.
Prior to 0.12, player-summoned hellwings could be used to gain permanent undead allies.
Prior to 0.16, they couldn't cast Cigotuvi's Embrace.
Prior to 0.18, Hellwings didn't have the swoop attack formerly possessed by blue devils.
