The Seraphim, or the Burning Ones, are the highest rank of the angelic hosts, the mightiest servants of the good gods. They have six wings and but one face, and are said to sometimes take the forms of fiery serpents.

“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.”
-KJV Bible, Isaiah 6:1-3.

Useful Info

Seraphim are flying holy beings, the rugged, upgraded version of angels. They have a big HP pool, can summon multiple holy beings at once, and share injury with allies. They always generate with a highly-enchanted flaming great sword, and either pearl dragon scales or fire dragon scales.

They are extremely rare, only appearing once per holy-themed Pandemonium floor or very rarely in the orb run. However, they are not unique.

Strategy

  • Obviously, seraphim are more dangerous to undead and Demonspawn players. If you're vulnerable to holy, consider skipping holy pan.
  • If a seraph is using Injury Bond, it's highly vulnerable to area-of-effect attacks.
    • Despite the fact that seraphim are immune to fire, Ignition can deal great damage via Injury Bond's damage sharing (given it has enough allies nearby).

History

  • In 0.16, seraphim received a new, much more powerful spell list. They also began spawning during the Orb run (albeit rarely).
  • Prior to 0.15, Seraphim (and all other holy creatures) would potentially be neutral toward worshipers of good gods.
