A great reptilian beast with powerful claws on its limbs, covered in thick red scales and with two huge bat-like wings. Little trails of smoke spill from its toothy maw.

“On the other hand, Confucius is made to say to his disciples, ‘I know how birds can fly, how fishes can swim, and how animals can run. But the runner may be snared, the swimmer may be hooked, and the flyer may be shot by the arrow. But there is the dragon. I cannot tell how he mounts on the wind through the clouds, and rises to heaven. Today I have seen Lao-tsze, and can only compare him to the dragon.’”
-Life of Confucius

“This Dragon had Two furious Wings
Each one upon each Shoulder;
With a Sting in his Tail as long as a Flail,
Which made him bolder and bolder.
He had long Claws, and in his Jaws
Four and forty Teeth of Iron;
With a Hide as tough, as any Buff,
Which did him round environ.”

Useful Info

Fire dragons are powerful, flying monsters with potent fire breath, near-immunity to fire, and vulnerability to cold. They are by no means the deadliest of the dragons in the game, but they can make short work of careless mid-level characters. Tips & Tricks

  • Butchering a fire dragon's corpse may produce a fire dragon hide, which you can enchant to create a fire dragon armour.
  • If you have any sources of fire resistance, wear them now, as a fire dragon's breath can prove devastating, especially to characters with fire vulnerability. Mummies without a source of fire resistance should probably stay very far away from any fire dragons they find.
  • Transmuters may wish to choose their form carefully around fire dragons: they resist poison, negating much of the damage that Spider Form can provide (though the form's high evasion might help you dodge the fire breath), and while Ice Form can deal heavy damage, users without a ring of fire resistance are left very vulnerable to the fire breath.

History

In 0.14 they were renamed from dragons to fire dragons to avoid confusion.
