Tips & Tricks

  • Going into melee against Snorg can be dangerous. His berserk usually lasts longer than yours, hasting him and increasing the damage of his attacks by 1.5x (for an average damage/time increase of 2.25x). Summoners can spam him with cheap summoned monsters, letting them take his attacks and softening him up until his berserk expires. Extremely fast characters can kite him, though this usually isn't an option (Haste + better than average base move speed required). Those who want to engage him in melee should buff themselves first: a potion of haste and a potion of might will not go amiss. High defensive stats certainly also help.
  • Snorg's berserker mechanics are unique. Every turn you're within Snorg's line of sight (during which he's not confused, enslaved, or otherwise disabled), there's a 5% chance of him going berserk; if he's injured in the slightest, this chance jumps up to 20%. Apart from not being able to be silenced, this isn't too different than other monsters that can go berserk, and is likely just a bit of cruft left over from before Berserker Rage was implemented as a monster spell, Snorg being one of the oldest uniques in the game.
  • Butchering Snorg's corpse may produce a named troll hide, which can be enchanted to create a troll leather armour. The name has no impact on gameplay, however.
