*Fire resistance and decent [[AC]] will help mitigate the damage of their Fireballs. Considering that hell hogs tend to run in packs and have no qualms about blowing themselves or other monsters up, though, you'll probably be eating several Fireballs over the course of the fight, so taking them all out quickly is generally a good idea. Area-of-effect attacks or a tight corridor are useful here.

Tips & Tricks

  • Fire resistance and decent AC will help mitigate the damage of their Fireballs. Considering that hell hogs tend to run in packs and have no qualms about blowing themselves or other monsters up, though, you'll probably be eating several Fireballs over the course of the fight, so taking them all out quickly is generally a good idea. Area-of-effect attacks or a tight corridor are useful here.
    • Ignition is totally useless against them. Fire Storm, however, still does enough irresistible damage to one or two-shot them.
  • Hell hogs are fairly non-threatening in comparison to other creatures that can be found in the same places they appear in. However, Fireballs are loud, so fights with hell hogs will likely attract attention from other monsters that may be significantly harder to deal with.
