I use ice magic a lot.
I think of ice magic as bringing the inhospitable arctic to the dungeon.
The arctic weather threatens acute (Hailstorm, Metabolic Englaciation, Ozocubu's Refrigeration) or lingering (Frozen Ramparts, Freezing Cloud, Polar Vortex) dangers to all enemies that are near.
The arctic animals (Summon Ice Beast, Simulacrum) kill.
You can embrace the cold (Ozocubu's Armour, Ice Form) or force others be embraced (Freeze, Ensorcelled Hibernation) by the cold.
