Player use
A wand of acid fires a Corrosive Bolt of acid, dealing damage and possibly corroding any creatures in its path. It has a power rating of 15 + 5*Evocations/2.
Monster use
When utilized by a monster, the power rating is 30 + (monster Hit Dice).
Strategy
Wands of acid provide an easy to underestimate backup attack. A Corrosive Bolt is effectively a level 6 spell, and with a few points into Evocations, just as competitive. Few monsters are resistant to acid, and the bolt's corrosive properties make followup attacks much more effective.
Beware of Ijyb, the goblin with a wand (of acid). This is easily the most dangerous wand she can wield, though it can only be fired at a range of 5.
