Reaping

Any living, holy, or demonic foe damaged by it may be temporarily reanimated upon death as a friendly spectral, with an increasing chance as more damage is dealt.

Reaping is a brand found on randarts which does the following:

• When a natural, holy, or demonic enemy hit by a reaping weapon dies, it has a chance to rise as an allied spectral thing. This scales with damage dealt: if a weapon of reaping did all the damage, you have a 67% chance to create a spectral thing.

This is considered an evil brand. Attacking an enemy with a weapon of reaping will offend the good gods. Reaping is also ineffective while worshipping Okawaru or Yredelemnul (who reaps for you).

Reaping can naturally generate on randarts, but it is rare. The Skull of Zonguldrok grants the Reaping effect to any weapon (even if it already has another brand).

The chaos brand has a 1% chance to add the reaping effect on any attack.

History

• Prior to 0.33, the reaping brand was exclusive to the sword of Zonguldrok and generated zombies that did not time out, but at a reduced chance (50%). Also, it was not compatible with Gozag or Animate Dead/Infestation.
• Prior to 0.28, the reaping brand did not prevent death drops from appearing.
• Prior to 0.16, this brand could be found on the Spear of the Botono.
• Prior to 0.13, this brand could also generate on scythes.
• Before 0.10, the effect occurred any time you dealt a killing blow with the reaping weapon.
• Before 0.8, this brand was also found on arrows, darts, bows and longbows.
