A ring that protects the life-force of its wearer from negative energy, making them partially immune to the draining effects of undead and necromantic magic. |
A ring of positive energy provides one level of negative energy resistance (rN+), protecting its wearer from draining attacks and necromantic magic.
Desirability
For most of a 3-rune game, negative energy isn't common. You may come across occasional enemies, such as jorogumos, deep elf death mages or shadow dragons, that deal negative energy, so it's nice to keep a source of rN+ handy.
In extended, negative energy and torment are much more common; having good amounts of rN+ is more important. However, dedicating an entire ring slot to a single source of rN+ isn't the greatest. Note that The Shining One provides rN+++ to pious followers, making this ring redundant.
History
- Prior to 0.13, these rings were known as rings of life protection.
