A light leather suit reinforced with a covering of metal rings. It is protective in combat, but slightly uncomfortable due to the added weight. |
Ring mail is a body armour one step heavier than leather armour.
Desirability
For a strong melee brute, it is generally not that useful; a heavier armour such as plate armour or chain mail is preferable. However, for a hybrid-style character, it strikes a balance between not interfering with spells too much and providing some protection, and so it may be desirable for such characters.
Trivia
Ring mail is an item of armour whose historical existence is somewhat doubtful. It seems more likely that it is a Victorian misinterpretation of contemporary depictions of chain mail or scale mail, or that the rings were merely items of decoration.
