At first glance, you might mistake this being for an ordinary tree, but its branches sway and creak purposefully, and within the knots and grooves of its ruddy bark can be seen the wizened features of an aged forest protector.
Though it moves with slow deliberateness, its enormous gnarled limbs can match the strength of giants and its bark withstand the bite of battleaxes. A curious buzzing sound seems to follow it as it moves.... |
Useful Info
Treants are massive forest guardians, large and powerful but slow and vulnerable to fire. Along with their brutal melee attacks, they have a grasping roots ability which reduces your EV and movement delay while standing on solid ground.
Some treants are generated with a few yellow wasps or red wasps inside them, which will be released as a free action once the treant is reduced below 50% hp. These wasps count as normal monsters for experience purposes and are not replenished.
Released insects consider the treant their band leader; even if you kite the treant away from its swarm, the insects will eventually regroup with and accompany it.
Treants can be found in the Enchanted Forest.
Abilities: Grasping roots
Tips & Tricks
- If you lack poison resistance, killing the yellow and red wasps should be a major priority. Otherwise, let them sting away at you and worry about the actual threats nearby (such as the furious maple that's punching you).
- Fireball and Bolt of Fire are every bit as effective as you'd expect them to be for taking down massive tree foes, and they cut right through the bugs too.
