Useful Info

Vampires are undead opponents who focus on nefarious, backhanded attacks to defeat their enemies. They are uncommonly found in the middle floors of the Dungeon, and are a common sight in the Crypt along with their more advanced brethren.

Variant Vampire

You may encounter a vampire enchanter while exploring certain vaults. These undead spellcasters are much more durable than normal and have a wide variety of irritating and dangerous Hexes. Cold and magic resistance are strongly recommended.

Spells: Confuse, Ensorcelled Hibernation, Invisibility, Haste

An enchanter who, by accident or design, has been afflicted with the curse of the vampire. Regardless, undeath merely fuels their abilities; few are aware of its presence until they find themselves on the wrong end of a quick blade.

Tips & Tricks

  • They aren't very difficult, considering where you meet them. Whack them with a holy weapon or tear them apart with Dispel Undead.
  • High magic resistance and see invisible are both helpful when vampires are around.

History

Prior to 0.12, vampires had the Vampire Summon spell, a monsters-only version of Summon Small Mammals that could potentially produce orange rats.
