A ring that protects the life-force of its wearer from negative energy, making them partially immune to the draining effects of undead and necromantic magic. |
A ring of positive energy provides one level of negative energy resistance (rN+), protecting its wearer from draining attacks and necromantic magic.
Desirability
For most of a 3-rune game, negative energy isn't common. You may come across occasional enemies with negative damage, such as jorogumos, deep elf death mages or shadow dragons, so it's nice to keep a source of rN+ handy.
In extended, negative energy and torment are much more common; having good amounts of rN+ is more important. However, dedicating an entire ring slot to a single source of rN+ isn't the greatest. Note that The Shining One provides rN+++ to pious followers, making this ring redundant.
History
- Prior to 0.13, these rings were known as rings of life protection.
