Version 0.30: This article may not be up to date for the latest stable release of Crawl.
It has been blessed by The Shining One, dealing an additional three-quarters of any damage that pierces undead and demons' armour. |
The holy wrath brand does the following:
- Against undead and demons, deals an average of +75% damage (min. 1, max. +150%).[1] This is independent from "holy" damage, so undead that are rHoly (e.g. profane servitors) are not immune to holy wrath.
You cannot wield weapons with this brand if you yourself are undead (Mummy, Ghoul, all Vampires, in lichform) or a demonspawn. Holy wrath will also offend Yredelemnul, though the other evil gods won't mind.

Sources
Holy wrath can be found on any melee weapon except demon blades, demon tridents, and demon whips (which become their blessed counterparts instead). It can not be obtained through a scroll of brand weapon. It can also be found as:
- The Shining One, at 6* piety, can bless any weapon, including Ranged Weapons. This can be done once per game.
- Any eudemon blades, sacred scourges, and trishulas you find are forced to have holy wrath. These are often found on angels, daevas, and Mennas.
Tips & Tricks
- While holy wrath is weak in most early-game branches (such as the Lair), it excels in the extended game, when most branches are filled with powerful demons and undead. The Crypt, the Tomb, Pandemonium and the Hells are especially good places to have a weapon of holy wrath.
- Holy wrath doesn't do anything against "evil" creatures aren't actually undead/demonic, such as necromancers or hell knights.
