Useful Info
Josephine the Decaying Necromancer is a unique evil necromancer with several nasty spells in her repertoire. She typically wields a branded dagger and has an entourage of undead monsters surrounding her. Notably, she can raise minions from nearby corpses, heal them with negative energy, drain your HP to heal herself, and tear apart undead characters with ease.

Tips & Tricks
- If you encounter multiple undead creatures on an otherwise normal floor, you've likely stumbled upon a few members of Josephine's undead band. Wait a while, letting them wake up and start coming after you. If you lure them away and kill them in another room, that'll make the fight with Josephine significantly easier. Fighting them with her providing support magic means she'll be healing them and blasting you with Ghostly Fireballs every few turns.
- Her Vampiric Draining spell deals modest damage and heals her, making it somewhat less appealing to engage her in melee. However, fighting her in melee often tricks her into hitting you with her Ghostly Fireball, blasting herself as well for a reduced but still significant amount of damage. Don't be afraid to rush in and let her kamikaze herself out of existence.
- Undead characters should try to take her down quickly; the irresistible damage from her Dispel Undead can take you down with frightening speed. She needs a clear line of sight to hit you with it, however, so summoned allies can help here.
History
- In 0.16, Josephine's band of wraiths was added.
- Prior to 0.14, Josephine knew Bolt of Cold, Agony, and Simulacrum instead of Ghostly Fireball, Vampiric Draining, and Dispel Undead. Also, she had no negative energy resistance.
