Maximum Enchantment | +5 |

The scales of a steam-breathing dragon. Unlike the scales of some larger dragons, it does not provide its wearer with much protection (beyond a resistance to scalding steam), but it is extremely light and supple. |
Useful info
Steam dragon scales are the lightest of the dragon scale armours, having an encumbrance rating of 0 (the same as a robe).
Desirability
These scales provide more AC than a robe, but usually, armours such as acid dragon scales, troll leather armour, or if you can handle the spellcasting and EV hit, fire dragon scales will be better. Steam resistance is virtually useless, especially since fire resistance also provides steam resistance, and 5 base AC is not particularly impressive. However, the maximum enchantment of +5 is high for armour with no encumbrance.
History
- Steam dragon scales replaced steam dragon armour in 0.19.
