Quicksilver dragon scales can be an effective armour. In any case, you can still benefit from enchanting a shield or your other aux slots.
Quicksilver scales are a light armour with high base AC. Thus, they work best for casters and EV-based characters, and benefit from having high Armour skill. Melee brutes will likely prefer something like a plate armour of willpower instead.
