List of orcs
This page is about the various orc monsters. For the player species, see hill orc.
Although bloodthirsty and cruel, orcs are by no means dim-witted. These subterranean brutes boast dangerous spell casters, dark priests of Beogh, and skilled warriors among their ranks, even if the vast majority of them are unskilled thugs who rely on sheer numbers to overcome foes. Great hordes of orcs inhabit the Orcish Mines, but they can be found elsewhere as well.
Orc Types
o Untrained orcs are commonplace nuisances. They are lightly armed, lightly armored, and only really dangerous early on. However, they can still damage stronger characters, so don't allow them to swarm you while you take out bigger threats. (See stats above)
o Orc wizards come with a versatile array of spells: they can hit you with fire or ice conjurations, haste or invisible themselves, and will confuse or slow you given the chance. A threat to scrolls and potions.
o The most notable feature of orc priests is their smite attack, which is unavoidable, irresistible, and can target you so long as the priest is in your LOS. Early on, this damage can be deadly. They can also heal themselves. Definitely make priests a high priority.
o Orc warriors are hardier than ogres and attack faster. They are often equipped with strong weapons and armour, but their low EV makes them vulnerable to wands. They can be dangerous in melee.
o Orc sorcerers cast Bolt of Draining, summon demons, and paralyse you. They are fire-resistant (not immune).
o Orc knights are basically orc warriors, but stronger. They will sometimes buff other orcs, though this has negligible effect. They may carry crossbows which makes them much more dangerous, a good reason not to leave yaktaur gear lying around in the Vaults.
o Orc high priests will still smite you, but even worse are their summoned demons.
o The beefiest orcs, orc warlords are like orc knights, except much, much stronger. With crossbows and other means of ranged attacks they easily do 30-50 damage per shot.
Unique Orcs
o Urug is stronger than an untrained orc, but not by much.
o Blork the orc is an upgraded orc wizard who comes with a pack of allies.
o Nergalle is an orc sorceress who can summon spectral orcs to aid her in combat.
o Saint Roka is the strongest orc of all, an orc warlord with smiting attacks and a large retinue of followers.
