A wisp of unliving shadow, slipping in and out of the darkness of the dungeon. It moves swiftly and silently from one pool of shade to another, striking unerringly from the blind spots of those who cannot see it.

“Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act
Falls the Shadow
For thine is the Kingdom

Between the conception
And the creation
Between the emotion

Falls the Shadow

-T.S. Eliot, “The Hollow Men”. 1925.

Useful Info

Shadowghasts are undead creatures which can briefly become invisible. They can be found in the middle floors of the Dungeon

When a shadowghast is invisible and not backlit, it gains a boost to movement speed (14.2 speed). Also, if the target cannot see invisible, an invisible shadowghast deals 2.5x damage, never misses, and reveals itself.

Spell set I
Slot1 Invisibility Natural flag

Tips & Tricks

  • Shadowghasts are fast-moving enemies that can deal extreme amounts of damage (35 dmg/hit), who also go invisible. Very strong for the places they apppear in.
  • Being able to negate their invisibility is an obvious benefit. If you don't have see invisible already, pop on a ring of see invisible (if you have one).

History

  • Prior to 0.32, shadowghasts were called shadows. This was changed to differentiate from the shadow created by Dithmenos.
  • Prior to 0.19, players would summon neutral shadows when wielding a lantern of shadows.
  • Prior to 0.13, shadows were unable to go invisible, and damaged your strength when they attacked.
