| The scales of a lightning-breathing dragon. It is heavier than most dragon scale armours, and gives its wearer great resistance to lightning discharges. |
Storm dragon scales are a heavy suit of armour obtainable by slaying a storm dragon. The scales provide the same protection as plate armour, with a slightly lower encumbrance rating, while also giving electricity resistance.
Desirability
Storm dragon scales are in a tight position.
- Plate armour has the same AC, for 3 more encumbrance. However, plate is much more common: it can be found and enchanted earlier. Also, you're more likely to find artefact plate.
- For heavy-armour characters, gold dragon scales can be found around the same time, give better AC, and has 3 resistances instead of one.
- For others. the encumbrance is quite high. Casters and ranged weapon users will want a lighter set of dragon scales.
However, electricity resistance is moderately rare. For those who cannot get rElec easily, a set of storm dragon scales can be a strong option. It is most useful in areas like Zot, where electric damage is commonplace.
History
- Prior to 0.19, it was named storm dragon armour and was obtained by enchanting a storm dragon hide.
- Prior to 0.14, its encumbrance rating was 17.
