An amulet that allows the user to tumble and roll to evade the blows of their enemies, but only while moving and waiting. While taking other actions (including climbing stairs) the amulet conveys no benefits. |
Wearing an amulet of the acrobat grants a tremendous +15 boost to evasion, but only on turns in which you make no actions other than moving or waiting. Riposte attacks and minotaur headbutt counters negate this benefit, as do the moving attacks of Wu Jian followers. Maintaining a channeling spell like Searing Ray, however, does allow the amulet to work.
Strategy
Gaining +15 EV is certainly a powerful effect, but only having it while you're doing nothing aggressive is a bit disappointing. It works best with passive effects like poison, Frozen Ramparts, or Petrify, though even then, those turns are often better spent attacking. So with the exception of the channeling spells, this amulet is simply not designed with offense in mind.
Instead, consider it a defensive tool for scenarios where you don't intend to kill (everything). It helps with repositioning, as you avoid attacks of opportunity, and is particularly handy for followers of Cheibriados. It's also good for fleeing, ninja-ing runes, and waiting for a teleport to kick in. An amulet of the acrobat is most helpful early on when you don't have good defenses of any kind - having acrobat is better than having no amulet.
Tips & Tricks
- The amulet will display the EV boost in Blue the turn after doing a valid action; but it instantly fades if you do a different one.
- Keep in mind that there are plenty of threats that ignore EV entirely, such as spells like Fireball or Airstrike, harmful clouds, and dangerous Hexes.
History
- Prior to 0.26, in order to function, the amulet had to attune itself to the wearer at full health.
- The amulet of the acrobat was added in 0.22.
