Useful Info
Dispater is a demon lord who wields the Staff of Dispater and is the guardian of the iron rune on the last floor of the Iron City of Dis. He specializes in hitting you with brutal Earth Magic, Hellfire, and waves of tier-1 demons. You can find him in his mansion at the end of Dis:7, usually accompanied by several hell sentinels, ice fiends, and brimstone fiends (though thankfully not all at once).

Tips & Tricks
- Explore the outside of his chamber first before approaching the innermost chamber. There will be plenty of reinforcements wandering around, and if you can take them out before the fight, he'll be much less brutal.
- Dispater, like any demon lord, is someone you want to kill as quickly as possible. If you worship the Shining One, then he'll be much easier to defeat. Your divine allies and/or Cleansing Flame (at high Invocations) will make short work of him and his escort.
- Though not very useful in the rest of Dis, cold resistance is helpful here, as ice fiends deal terrifying amounts of damage without it.
Trivia
Originally a chthonic god of riches, fertile agricultural land and underground mineral wealth, Dis Pater was later commonly equated with the Roman deities Pluto and Orcus, becoming an underworld deity. His form in Crawl was likely inspired by the villainous Dispater found in Dungeons and Dragons.
