| The scales of an acid dragon. Although it does not provide its wearer with as much protection as the armour made from the scales of some larger dragons, it is somewhat lighter and less encumbering. It is also remarkably smooth, letting corrosive slime flow off it like water. |
Acid dragon scales are a lightweight armour that provides corrosion resistance.
This item has a 1/3 chance to generate when you slay an acid dragon.
Desirability
Acid dragon scales are very light, just 1 ER above a leather armour. These scales won't hinder you by much, even if you have poor strength. Corrosion resistance is useful in the Slime Pits, and against certain enemies like entropy weavers. These scales are also useful for Trolls and Ogres who haven't found anything heavier yet.
Alternatives exist:
- Some characters will prefer a less protective armour, such as robe of the Archmagi or troll leather armour, for their intrinsics. Others will want the better AC and max enchant from acid scales. This can depend on character type and player preference.
- You may want to upgrade to a heavier armour, such as swamp or fire dragon scales, eventually. These armours offer more AC for an encumbrance you can mitigate. Acid scales are found earlier, though.
History
- Acid dragon scales were introduced in 0.20, replacing mottled dragon scales.
