This page is about the player species. For the monster, see Human (monster).

Humans require little introduction. They tend to be hardworking, tenacious, curious, adaptable, quick-learning, and industrious. They are the most versatile of all the playable species, having the potential to learn any path, be it close combat, ranged combat, magic, stealth, or religious devotion. As such, they can be seen as the "base" or "average" species, with every other species being defined by how they vary from Humans.

As might be expected, Humans lack any special abilities, but also lack any particular weaknesses (unless you count a lack of specialization). They advance quickly in level and have equal aptitude in all skills.

Innate abilities

Humans have no innate abilities or drawbacks. If they want special powers, they must turn to mutation, magic, or the gods.

Preferred backgrounds

Humans are recommended for all backgrounds, except those which are recommended to no race, that is Chaos Knight and Wanderer.

Level bonuses

  • You get a random stat increase every 4 levels starting at level 4.
  • You gain the base max HP on every level.
  • You gain 1 max MP on every level.
  • Your intrinsic magic resistance increases by 3.

Starting skills and equipment

Humans receive the skills and equipment listed for their background.

Difficulty of play

SimpleIntermediateAdvanced

Humans are a fairly easy race to master, due to their advantage of advancing extremely quickly in experience, as well as lacking the drawbacks some of the more exotic species have.

However, Humans have a lack of specialization in both skill aptitudes and raw attributes, which means that another species can often excel them in a given background, even if that species is much worse than a Human outside its one niche. (For example, Minotaurs are tougher and more skilled than Humans in melee combat, even though they perform much worse than Humans at spellcasting.) Then again, this does mean Humans can more easily pull off "hybrid" playing styles or pick up a few tricks outside their chosen background.

Skill aptitudes

The higher the value, the better the aptitude.
