The scales of a swamp dragon. It confers resistance to poison on its wearer.

Swamp dragon scales is an effective body armour for use by low strength characters and casters, providing respectable AC and GDR with a manageable encumbrance rating of 7. It also provides poison resistance, rendering some early- and mid-game threats significantly less deadly.

Unfortunately, this armour can be rare. You get this armour by slaying a swamp dragon, and if your particular game did not generate the Swamp, it is extremely unlikely that you'll be able to find any such dragons to slay.

Desirability

Swamp dragon scales is not usually considered one of the better dragon scales. While its encumbrance rating is quite manageable, so is that of fire dragon scales, which provides a more useful intrinsic and more AC. Conversely, a robe with a very powerful ego such as resistance or Archmagi is also likely to be a better item for most characters. Poison resistance is not usually a resistance needed constantly outside of The Spider's Nest or The Snake Pit, and even for those places, there are usually better ways to get it.
