This weapon falls into the Maces & Flails category. It is a two handed weapon.
The mace is a fairly light Maces & Flails weapon. Many backgrounds can start with one.
Strategy
As a starting weapon, the mace is the stronger weapon for raw stats, tied with the long sword. Unlike the long sword, Maces & Flails scale with strength rather than dexterity. Maces don't have the reaching of a spear or cleaving of an axe, but they are stronger in combat.
Although a decent option for the early game, you'll want to find something more powerful in fairly short order. Flails are stronger and attack just as quickly, though at an accuracy penalty.
