This weapon falls into the 'Staves' category. It can be used with one hand, or more effectively with two (i.e. when not using a shield).
The quarterstaff is one of the best weapons available in the early game due to its excellent accuracy, power, and speed. It also uses the Staves skill, which can come in handy should you decide to use any magical staves to enhance your spellcasting in the future. Being double-handed weapons, quarterstaves are not recommended for use with shields, so characters that plan to use a shield may wish to look into a different weapon.
