A terrible three-pronged weapon, moulded by fire and brimstone. |
This weapon falls into the 'Polearms' category. It is a one-handed weapon.
Demon tridents are the best polearms available for characters who intend to wield a shield, dealing more base damage than standard tridents, though at a slight cost to accuracy. Although not a particularly deadly or fast end-game weapon, their reaching ability helps make them somewhat more desirable.
Although good gods frown upon the use of this weapon, worshipers of the Shining One can use his last ability to convert a demon trident into a trishula of holy wrath, an excellent option for use in the extended end game. You can revert a trishula back to a demon trident by praying at an altar to Kikubaaqudgha or Lugonu at max piety, though this is rarely a worthwhile trade.
History
Prior to 0.14, demon tridents dealt slightly more damage than normal in the hands of demonspawn characters.
Prior to 0.10, demon tridents did 13 damage, but lacked innate reaching.
