The short sword is a common weapon in the Short Blades category. Many backgrounds have a short sword as a choice of weapon, and early monsters (such as kobolds, goblins and orcs) often wield them. The short sword is more powerful but slightly less accurate than a dagger, and is surpassed by the sabre and quick blade.
