The executioner's axe is a massive two-handed weapon, one of the most powerful melee options in the game for medium-sized characters. However, they are extremely uncommon, and require near-mastery of the Axes skill to reach min delay. As such, many players will have an easier time using a solid battleaxe or broad axe for much of the game, investing the extra experience elsewhere (though minotaur and hill orc characters have Axes aptitudes that make the necessary training somewhat easier).
Due to their high base damage and slow attack speed, they are especially powerful when matched with brands such as speed, freezing, or holy wrath. Although normally very rare, they occasionally generate in Pandemonium in the hands of demonspawn opponents, and the unique executioner Ignacio always generates with a well-enchanted executioner's axe of pain.
Like all axes, this weapon allows the player to cleave.
