Staff Types
Enhancer staves
Staves of cold, fire, earth, air, poison, death, conjurations, enchantments, and summoning serve as spell power multipliers for spells in the corresponding school. As with rings of fire and ice, staves of cold, fire, earth and air reduce the power of spells in the opposite school.
Other staves
There are some other magical staves not associated with schools.
- Staff of wizardry: like a ring of wizardry, it improves spell success rates.
- Staff of energy: removes spell hungering.
- Staff of power: like a ring of magical power, it increases the reservoir of MP.
- Staff of channeling: may be evoked to gain MP. Doing so costs nutrition. High evocation skill increases efficiency.
Additional effects
Resistances
Staves of cold, fire, air and poison confer resistance to the corresponding element.
Melee
All staves function as unenchanted quarterstaves in melee. Staves of cold, fire, earth, air, poison and death deal extra elemental damage depending on Evocations and the corresponding magical skill.
