Summoning Duration
Summoned monsters are generated with a duration between 1 and 6. This value roughly corresponds to the following amount in turns:
- 90 aut (atomic units of time)
- 180 aut
- 270 aut
- 360 aut
- 810 aut
- 1710 aut
Some summoning spells have a fixed duration. The other spells will increase monster duration with spell power.

- Summon Small Mammals: 3
- Summon Scorpions : 3
- Simulacrum : 6
- Summon Hydra : 1
- Summon Dragon : 6
- Summon Horrible Things : 6
- Summon Greater Demon: 5
- Haunt : 3
- Variable Duration Spells (Duration increases with spell power)
- Sticks to Snakes: 3-5
- Call Imp : 2-6
- Call Canine Familiar 2-6
- Summon Elemental 2-6
- Summon Ice Beast: 2-6
- Summon Ugly Thing: 2-6
- Tukima's Dance : 2-6
- Shadow Creatures : 1-4 (based on hit dice of monster)
- Non-standard summoning

Dealing with Hostile Summons
There are a few ways to deal with hostile summoned creatures:
- Using Abjuration or Mass Abjuration
- Having some form of Warding
- Leaving the level and coming back after they have disappeared.
