These are monsters that are resistant to negative energy. Note that, for monsters, negative energy resistance is almost invariably absolute: it is not specified like other resistances, but instead all monsters that don't have natural holiness get rN+++ (including demons and undead, but also angels and plants). The only way, currently, for a monster to have partial negative energy resistance is for it to be wearing item(s) with the property.
